Outside of the big three integrated luxury sports watches, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, Patek Philippe Nautilus and Vacheron Constantin Overseas, there are a number of other tempting, lesser-known options from smaller luxury brands.

One of the best, and a personal favorite of mine, is the H. Moser & Cie. Streamliner. The Streamliner boasts a unique cushion case, a serpentine integrated bracelet that’s a dream on the wrist and, in most cases, head-turning dials made using Moser’s trademark fumé grand feu enamel technique.

One of the most popular variations of the Streamliner is the Small Seconds version, which boasts a fumé grand feu enamel dial in Aqua Blue. But a new version released this week may be even more striking.

Green dream

The new Moser Streamliner Small Seconds is exactly the same as the existing Aqua Blue version, except for one difference: the dial.

The new dial is still produced via Moser’s incredible grand feu enamel treatment, which sees a gold dial plate hand-hammered before being coated with powdered pigment in three different colors.

These pigments are applied by hand, one at a time, so they meld perfectly together to create the brand’s signature textured fumé effect that’s darker at the edges and bright in the center. The enamel is then fired in an oven a dozen times to create the proper appearance and texture.

But instead of blue, this time around, the effect was completed in Lime Green. We’ve seen Moser use Lime Green fumé enamel before on the Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept Lime Green, but this marks the first time the particularly striking color has appeared on the brand’s flagship sports watch.

As previously stated, the rest of this Streamliner small seconds is the same as before. The cushion case still measures 39mm in diamter and is fixed to the same integrated bracelet, both in stainless steel. The water resistance remains a robust 120m. The hour and minute hands still boast solid ceramic Globolight luminous inserts. And the small seconds display at 6:00 still features a lacquered finish and a circular pattern.

There are sapphire crystals front and back, and through the caseback, the usual in-house Calibre HMC 500 movement is on full display. An automatic with a 74-hour power reserve and wound with a platinum micro-rotor, the HMC 500 features Moser’s typical skeletonization, anthracite coating and “Moser stripe” decoration.

Availability and pricing

I lied earlier when I said the only difference between the Lime Green and Aqua Blue versions of the Streamliner Small Seconds was their dial color. There’s also a difference in price and availability.

Pricewise, the new Lime Green version comes in 1,000 CHF higher, presumably due to the added exclusivity. It’s priced at $39,000 USD. Then there’s the availability, as the Lime Green is a boutique exclusive, meaning it can only be purchased in person at a Moser boutique, of which there are just nine in the world, with the latest having opened in Chicago earlier this year.
