Seiko’s high-end sister brand, Grand Seiko, has become quite synonymous with using the natural beauty of its native Japan as inspiration for its gorgeous watch dials.
Seiko, meanwhile, tends to be more diverse when seeking its own stylistic inspiration. And while nature has inspired Seiko watch dials in the past, the brand doesn’t limit itself to Japanese vistas.
Case in point is the latest limited-edition dive watch from Seiko, a special version of the 1965 Heritage Diver’s Watch that draws inspiration from Austria’s Lake Hallstatt.
Forest green
Lake Hallstatt is a recreational lake in Austria that’s popular with scuba divers, which may be why Seiko decided to model a dive watch after it. The glacial lake is bordered by the quaint village of Hallstatt and surrounded by the evergreen-covered slopes of the northern Alps.
Seiko zeroed in on all that surrounding greenery to give its modernized 62MAS diver a sunburst green dial with a matching green bezel insert. The bezel markings, applied index surrounds and hands are all finished with a gold tone, recalling the sunshine of the lake in summertime.
