Though stability shoes have a reputation for being dependable but boring, Asics’ newest version of its GT-2000 15 provides a compelling case for giving the category another look.

Prioritizing a responsive underfoot feel alongside its stability-focused foundation, the GT-2000 15 brings fresh energy to a previously predictable class of footwear.

The bestselling Gel-Kayano may be the better-known Asics franchise, but the upcoming GT-2000 15 continues to build upon the underrated GT-2000 running shoe series that has continued to evolve in the background.

The GT-2000 15 has always offered an impressive blend of stability and responsiveness, built for runners and walkers who crave more support, but the latest iteration in the series brings the sneaker to new heights … in terms of the stack height, quite literally.

Asics’ improved stability trainer cuts weight, adds in specialty foam and increases the stack height by 2mm. The shoe’s midsole features an updated FF Blast Max foam, which the brand says improves bounce while maintaining the same stable ride. 

The engineered woven upper has been retooled as well, offering a secure, breathable fit while adapting to the foot’s natural movement.

The GT-2000 15’s 3D Guidance System for stability, signature Trampoline Pod in the forefoot and its PureGel cushioning technology remain the same as previous generations.

Availability and pricing

The GT-2000 15 is available for preorder now on Asics’ website, retailing for $150.

The stability shoe is expected to ship starting August 1.
