In the long history of work boots, only a few are truly iconic. In that regard, respect is certainly owed to the likes of the Red Wing Classic Moc and Dr. Martens 1460. But there’s another that stands right along with them: the Timberland 6-Inch Boot.

Like the Red Wings and Docs, these Timberlands have a cultural significance that extends well beyond the workplace — especially in the world of hip-hop — making them a style staple that has transcended their origins and seen countless iterations emerge, as a result.

And yet, none of the brand’s iconic boots have ever looked quite like the new, craft-focused Timberland Textured Premium 6-Inch Boots.

The silhouette and even materials of this legendary boot remain, but the upper’s construction is extremely different.

Woven wonder

Funny enough, these new boots don’t actually differ in their silhouette or materials. Instead, that eye-catching upper is entirely the result of craftsmanship.

The boots are still made from the same full-grain leather as always. There’s just a twist to how they were built. Instead of a few solid pieces of standard leather, the upper — specifically, the toe and shank — is woven.

Just like their siblings, these boots have a 7-eyelet design with cable laces and a thick, padded collar for all-day comfort.

It’s an intricate construction that’s almost reptilian in its appearance, albeit more geometric. In fact, it’s similar to a style more commonly seen among summertime loafers and slippers, especially those of Italian origin, called “intrecciato” (as perfected by Bottega Veneta in the late 1960s).

And yet, these are a decidedly different interpretation of that technique, blending this delicate Italian craft with a boot style that is decidedly more rugged and formidable in origin. In fact, even considering the new upper style, these are still extremely true to Timberland’s originals.

An icon intact

While the upper features a unique woven construction, the silhouette and materials of these iconic boots are otherwise intact. Even the brand’s signature “yellow” colorway (which the brand calls “Beige”) is present on this boot.

That includes the seven-eyelet lacing system with the same classic cable laces, as well as a thick, padded collar and tongue. There’s also a heel reinforcement that’s a solid, non-woven piece of leather, adding durability where it’s needed most.

And, of course, the classic rubber outsole remains. Even the brand’s signature thick, lugged pattern is present on the underside — a staple of these boots that has been in use for generations now.

Alongside the Beige colorway, the boots are also available in Olive. Furthermore, they can be customized in width, as well as size.
