For the better part of the last decade, maximalist running shoes have been defined by one brand in particular: Hoka. Thick midsoles, exaggerated geometry and a comfort-first ethos went from niche to norm. Today, just about every major footwear player has finally taken notice.
But Nike hasn’t just entered that conversation—it’s trying to reframe it entirely. The brand’s Nike Vomero Premium is its most unapologetically overbuilt answer yet: a high-stack, tech-heavy trainer that doesn’t hide its ambition.
Now, Nike is doubling down on that positioning with a new colorway that swaps loud performance cues for something far more considered.
A luxurious pivot

If earlier versions of the Vomero Premium leaned into the visual language of performance—high contrast, technical overlays, and overt “run shoe” energy—this latest release takes a quieter route.
The palette lands squarely in the world of soft neutrals: layered beiges, warm tans and off-whites that blur the line between performance gear and lifestyle object. It’s the kind of tonal restraint more commonly associated with premium fashion labels than max-cushion trainers.
