Böker’s Latest Release Is Equal Parts Unique, Handy and Super-Affordable

The vaunted German blade brand surprises with a pocket- and wallet-friendly gadget packing lean and mean functionality.

As renowned as it is for fantastic folding and fixed-blade knives, every so often, Böker dips its toes in the multi-tool pond.

On those rare occasions, the brand has the capacity to approach classic functions in somewhat unconventional ways.

The latest example is a compelling collaboration with Denver-based EDC and tactical tool maker Kopis Designs.

Lean, mean, super-affordable and TSA-friendly, the Grift hardly seems to live up to its name, in the best way possible.

Function junction

Made of durable, wear-resistant 420 steel, the 3.5-inch, 1.45-ounce multi-tool carries a minimal footprint yet offers maximal capability when it comes to a few cherry-picked critical functions.

The ridged edges of the business end are great for scraping, prying and gentle leverage, while the 90-degree angle of the main edge tackles package opening and the beveled edge on the opposite side delivers flathead driver functionality.

The handle cutout, meanwhile, stores an element not often seen on keychain-adjacent doodads: a Phillips head screwdriver bit, secured with tiny rubber bands.

Inserted into the slot of the bottle opener (next to the flathead), it becomes a legit screwdriver, with the two-plus inches of metal extending outward offering serious leverage.

The hole at the opposite end enables you to attach the Grift to a lanyard or keyring for easy carry; you can also use the integrated clip to stash it in your pocket.

Heavy jimping on the clip and the edge across from it make for a secure, reliable grip, while the stylish stonewashed finish enables the Grift to look as good as it performs.

Bottom line: while it’s often nice to have a blade on hand, the bona fide Grift can tackle many knife duties and more … without getting you busted by TSA in the process.
