Sometimes it’s the simple things in life. And it hardly gets any simpler than a five-gallon bucket.

That is, unless you’re Yeti.

A staple of the LoadOut collection, which also includes its nearly indestructible cargo boxes, the brand’s alternative to your classic big-box fiver is a proudly overengineered workhorse with no shortage of appeal.

Expensive by other standards, the Yeti LoadOut bucket is one of the best values within the brand’s ecosystem.

Overengineered workhorse

First released in 2017, the LoadOut Bucket features a flexible handle, non-slip bottom and tie-down slots, while its thick HDPE plastic means it doesn’t easily bend or break.

A few thoughtful features, such as a non-slip bottom, give the LoadOut Bucket added utility over big-box budget options.

What’s more, a slew of accessories, such as a rotating swivel seat and gear belt, bake in extra utility at home or afar.

The bucket is also compatible with accessories like a rotating swivel seat (pictured).

Lest we forget the most important attribute: it costs all of $40. That makes it pricey by bucket standards but one of the most affordable items within Yeti Nation.

Now, thanks to a subtle update on Yeti’s website, it just became even harder to resist.

Back in black

Without notice or fanfare, the brand quietly released the LoadOut Bucket in black, adding the missing option as a so-called “Core” colorway.

Black is now part of Yeti’s “Core” lineup, meaning that unlike its seasonal colors, it won’t go away anytime soon.

The move coincides with the recent release of the GoBox 1, which also comes in the color. However, black has long been MIA from the larger cargo cases, much to the dismay of the Yeti faithful.

They’ll no doubt be hoping that changes in the future. But for now, they have a bucket, and a bucket will have to do.

Fortunately for them, it’s often the simple things in life that hit the hardest.
