An entire culture has developed around coffee because it’s far more than a buzz-inducing beverage. When handled correctly, its smell is arresting, its brewing brings tactile joy and the finished product is visually beautiful.
The culture runs so deep that Brew Watches has built a successful watchmaking business with coffee as its primary muse. The New York City-based brand’s latest creation attempts to capture the fleeting grace of whole milk swirling around an icy cup of cold brew before it dissipates into a uniform beige.

Brew’s founder and designer, Jonathan Ferrer, is brilliant at placing his coffee-inspired concepts into watch designs that stand on their own. It is never gimmicky, and always tasteful with a strong vintage lean.
The new Retrograph Stone Blend folds that milky cold brew swirl into a 1970s-style stone-dial dress watch. It reimagines one of the brand’s oldest models, born as a chronograph calibrated for timing espresso pulls, as a suave three-hander.

This transition was easier than it sounds because the key components were already in place. The Retrograph’s curvy 38mm tonneau case and baton hands fit perfectly into the new motif, though with a slight adjustment to the hands.
A needle seconds hand was swapped in, and every other detail was wiped clean from the dial.
