Nike’s bread and butter remains lightning-fast road runners and all manner of basketball shoes. But the company deserves some credit as one of the original performance-focused outdoor brands.
ACG, short for All Conditions Gear, dates back to the 1980s, when Nike debuted silhouettes like the Lava Dome, Magma and Approach built specifically for hiking rough and rocky terrain.
Though subsequent decades saw the respected sub-label devolve into lifestyle-driven designs coinciding with the rise of GORP, ACG relaunched in earnest earlier this year with a renewed focus on performance and innovation in the great outdoors.
Catch up on some of the big releases headlining the label’s return to trails and mountains and stay tuned for more in the coming months. Nike is already teasing more high-profile drops, such as the Western States-winning Kigerfly.
