Ikea’s New iPhone Accessory Is Refreshingly Affordable

The beloved Swedish brand wants to give you more affordable (and arguably more fun) alternatives to the iPhone accessories that Apple sells.

Ikea has quietly introduced a new series of wireless chargers, named Västmärke, with three options — each designed to be both functional and playful. And yes, they’re all very affordable, too.

All three wireless chargers have integrated magnets and support the Qi2.0 standard, meaning they’re compatible with today’s iPhones (although they max out at 15 watts, so they won’t charge quite as fast as an actual MagSafe charger).

The Charging Stand

The Västmärke Wireless Charging Stand is the most traditionally designed of the three wireless chargers. It looks and works similarly to a lot of other charging stands on the market — it holds and wirelessly charges your iPhone in a vertical or horizontal orientation.

However, its base is made of cork, which Ikea claims gives it a “warm and natural feel.”

The other big difference is price — the Västmärke Wireless Charging Stand costs just $25, making it way more affordable than a lot of other options.

Of course, Ikea doesn’t include a USB-C adapter with the stand to keep the cost down. The brand recommends pairing it with a 20-watt power adapter, like its Sjöss ($4), for optimal charging.

The $10 Charging Puck

The Ikea Västmärke Wireless Charger is a little more unique. It effectively combines the functionality of a PocketSocket-style grip and a magnetic charging puck in one. That way, your iPhone is easier to hold while it charges.

It also has what Ikea describes as a “fun” donut shape, made of soft silicone, and comes in a bright red finish.

The wireless charger includes a matching USB-C cable that can be wrapped inside “the donut,” which is helpful for travel.

It costs just $10 and is available now.

The Charging Tray

And finally, there’s the Ikea Västmärke Wireless Charger with Lighting, which is a glass valet tray with a wireless charger at its center.

The idea is that, when you get home, you can place your EDC (like your keys and wallet) in the bowl-shaped tray, as well as your smartphone right on the magnetic charger.

Additionally, the tray has an integrated light, which can be turned on/off by pressing the puck/wireless charger in the middle. So it effectively functions as a decorative night light, too.

It costs $25 and does not come with a power adapter.
